For Elsa Huebsch, swimming in college wasn’t an option — it was an expectation. When she began her career as an athlete at Colorado Mesa Univerity she faced immense pressure from her coaches and team. The pool, which had once been a safe haven, turned into a cycle ridden with anxiety. She transferred to UNC Chapel Hill after her first year, where she pursued her dream of creating climate solutions through chemistry research and advocated for the mental health of athletes at UNC’s club swim team.
